Chili's has experienced a resurgence in popularity after launching a social media campaign featuring the "Triple Dipper," an appetizer with custom combinations of wings, chicken crispers, Southwestern eggrolls, fried mozzarella and Big Mouth Bites. Boo Buckets Returning to McDonald's Stores for Halloween

This year's buckets will hit stores on October 21, 2025.

McDonald's Boo Buckets are a popular Halloween tradition for kids of all ages. The jack-o’-lantern themed buckets originated in 1986 and became a must-have for kids and collectors alike. The 2025 collection will include five different designs: an orange pumpkin, white ghost, red Frankenstein, black cat and a green witch. Get one with the purchase of a Happy Meal beginning on October 21, while supplies last.

The original Happy Meal buckets were similar to the current buckets, but had lids. Over the years designs came and went, and the company got rid of the lids, opting for decorated handles. Much to the chagrin of parents, these buckets remained long after Halloween was over. You may still have one in your attic or Halloween storage bin. 

Halloween Happy Meals aren’t the only Halloween tradition the restaurant chain has. Each year, participating stores offer treat books that trick-or-treaters can redeem for menu items like ice cream, apple dippers and hamburgers. The treat books come in packs of twelve and are priced around $1.25. 

There’s nothing more popular than nostalgia, so you can expect to the Halloween Happy Meal buckets to fly off the shelves. If you want to get your hands on one of those buckets, run to the closest McDonald’s at 10:30 a.m. on October 21. You may also be able to see the availability of the buckets by using the McDonald’s app.

Coastal Flats kids menu

I recently moved to Maryland and so I will now devote this blog to kids menus in the Maryland/Virginia/DC area. Coastal Flats is a local restaurant chain with locations in Gaithersburg and Tysons Corner. They serve a mix of salads, seafood and classic dishes with a seaside bent. On Sundays they serve brunch and every table gets a bread basket filled with beignets (they call them something else but they are essentially beignets with cinnamon sugar. Dave & Busters kids menu Summerlin

Downtown Summerlin is now home to a Dave & Busters! The giant bar and restaurant features arcade games on steroids that use reloadable cards as currency. The cards also keep track of the tickets your kids win so that you don't have to carry them around and find them in your purse for the next year. The restaurant offers a couple meal deals that include $10 in game credits and if you sign up for a a rewards card you can get an extra $10.

The tickets can actually be redeemed for some decent stuff. For an expenditure of around $20, your kid will probably have enough tickets to get a play ball, small stuffed animal or some other trinket that is waaay better than the stuff you haul home form Chuck E. Cheese.

The fries are great too.

Chick-Fil-A one step closer to Las Vegas

Chick-Fil-A has announced the commencement of construction on two of the ten stores planned for Nevada. The company broke ground June 10, 2016 on the Stephanie and Warm Springs location and another near St. Rose Dominican Hospital with tentative opening dates of early 2017. You can get ready for the invasion by downloading the new Chick-Fil-A app available for iPhone and Android.

Shake Shack menu items for kids

New York based Shake Shack has two locations in Las Vegas, one in Downtown Summerlin and one at New York New York on the Strip. They serve burgers, fries, chicken sandwiches and the famous concrete frozen custard shakes. Each location has special flavors that reflect the city or town they reside in. Good items for kids include flat top dogs, single burgers and or the secret menu grilled cheese (available with or without bacon). Moe's Southwest Grill kids menu

Moe's Southwest Grill has opened a location at the new Downtown Summerlin shopping center. Previously the only way you could get Moe's is when you were traveling through the McCarran Airport. Choices include quesadillas, burritos and tacos. Meals come with a drink and a cookie. Adult meals come with chips and salsa, (they have a salsa bar) big enough to share with your kid.
